‘Pujian Kritikal’. 61cm x 61cm. 2020. This artwork was made from a photo taken by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) motion sensor camera trap that has been used in conservation work since the early 1990s. It is helpful in quantifying the number of different species in an area. For example, DWNP has been using camera traps to keep count of the Malayan tiger population. The number of Malayan tigers is now estimated to be between 250 and 340, calculated within three main habitats mentioned in the National Tiger Conservation Action Plan but Perhilitan suggests the number is fewer than 200 'SATURDAY, MAY 18, 2019 • NewStraitsTimes'.
